Questions homeowners often ask.
Do I need to know what the town requires before I call?
No. Tell us what happened and share any notice you received. We explain what the architectural work involves, the fee, and how quickly we can get started, usually on the first call.
What does PKAD handle, and what does it leave to others?
PKAD documents existing conditions, prepares architectural drawings, and coordinates with municipal filing professionals. Licensed contractors perform any construction, and your Town or Village decides what it approves.
What should I have ready?
Your property address and any notice or paperwork from the town. If you have a property survey, have that too. We will explain anything else we need.
Who holds an architect accountable?
In New York, architecture is a regulated profession. The New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions oversees professional licensing, registration, and discipline.
Unlike relying solely on online reviews or a company’s reputation, homeowners can independently verify an architect’s credentials and have access to a formal complaint process when concerns arise.
Your Town or Village determines the requirements for your property. New York State provides oversight of the professionals practicing architecture.
